Reasons to Visit Belize
Language

The official language of Belize is English! While some other languages are spoken like Mayan, Spanish and a type of Creole the majority of Belizeans speak fluent English so language is never a barrier.
Currency

Belize currency is a very easy conversion to US Dollars. $2 Belize dollar to $1 US dollar. You do NOT need to convert your US dollars, just pay anywhere with dollars and you will get US or Belize dollars in return (sometimes both!) As long as you keep spending your Belize dollars until you run out you will have very little Belize dollars to convert when you leave.

Safety

While parts of Belize city can be dangerous the majority of the country ranks below crime statistics in the United States in nearly every aspect. You want to be a smart traveler and not flash money or jewelry around, but in general Belize is a very safe place to visit.
Casual

Belize is a very casual place. Clothing should be loose and comfortable and there’s no need for fancy dress even for dinner. Business or Cruise casual is probably more dressy than required so wear what you are comfortable in.
Easy Planning

There’s no need in general to plan your whole vacation ahead of time. Booking tours in Belize is easy. There are several tours you will not want to miss depending on your interests. The suggestion would be to book a couple of tours ahead of time that you know you want to do, and you can easily add additional tours once you are there.
Friendly

Many of the people running businesses in Belize will be right there, possibly drinking alongside you and are likely to be American Ex Pats, Canadiens or British. They are happy to see tourists and will probably greet you and possibly start up a conversation. The locals are friendly and will greet you passing by with a “Good Morning” or “Good Evening.” Don’t be afraid to say hello back or start a conversation with people you meet in the shops or stores. They are happy to give advice and tell you where they are from.
Local Products

When in Belize- Be Belizean! You will find most locally made or sourced items to be incredibly well priced. Don’t be afraid to try locally made jelly or food from the street vendors. You’ll be surprised what lunch costs at a local walk up stand and it’s delicious! Make it a mission to seek out local stands and try them all.
Variety

Interested in cultural tours? Do you love scuba diving? Did you know at certain times of the year you can swim/ dive with whale sharks? Have you ever seen a howler monkey in the jungle or 200 year old bamboo? Would you love to have lunch from atop a Mayan ruin? Does local cuisine interest you? Would you love to snorkel and spend the day on a pristine beach? All of this is offered right in Placencia either by boat or by tour in a one day trip.
Chill and Relax

It’s nearly impossible to feel stressed while in Belize. Relax and take it easy. That nap is calling to you, relax and just breathe.
Getting There

Flights to Belize are easy. You get there through American via Miami or Charlotte. Delta through Atlanta. Southwest (seasonal) through Fort Lauderdale. United through Houston, Chicago or New York. Most flights will get you to Belize before lunch. You can be relaxing on the beach before dinner.
Food and Drink

Everything in Belize is delicious. The juice isn’t from a box labeled with high fructose corn syrup. It was probably squeezed that morning. Things take a bit longer because the ingredients were probably cut and prepared after you ordered them. Get a Rum Punch from everywhere you go- they are all a little different. Try a Mule. Everything is fresh and amazingly good.
